Hotels Near the Bangkok Airport
If you’re getting in at an odd time or are on a quick layover in Bangkok on your way to someplace else, it might be worth it to skip the city and find a hotel near the Bangkok airport. Many travelers arrive on flights that land well after midnight, and it’s often easier to simply book a room only 15 minutes away in order to get a decent night’s sleep. Many international flights also depart very early in the morning, so spending the night near the airport means that you can score some extra sleep time. Remember, however, that a speedy airport link exists and that there is plenty of cheap accommodation throughout Thailand’s capital, so it’s worth it to venture into the city if you have some extra time.
You can read more detailed information on flying into Bangkok here, but suffice to say that the city has two airports: Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi (nicknamed “Swambi”). Don Muang is almost exclusively domestic, while Swambi services most international as well as a healthy portion of domestic flights as well.
Because Swambi is by far the busier of the two, we’ll only be covering hotels near there. You can expect all hotels in the area to offer airport transport, usually for an extra fee. Other amenities often include luggage storage and travel info desks.
Here are several options for you to check out, but be sure to comparison shop by using our hotel booking widget below.
It calls itself a youth hostel, but you don’t have to worry about sleeping in big dorms. The highest number of beds in a room is four, and with a shared bathroom you’ll pay $10 USD. At the other budget range, a single room with a private bath will cost you about $35 USD. The hostel is a quick ride to or from Swambi, and it has a social atmosphere. It gets great reviews and sees many repeat visitors.
Besides a funky name that kind of makes me giggle, the Floral Shire offers brand new accommodation and free airport transfers. Rooms run from $14 to $30, and they are clean and modern. Free wifi, a continental breakfast, an Internet cafe and on-site Thai massage for after your international flight round out the deal.
The Suvarnabhumi branch of the Orchid Resort is a small green oasis. A tiny swimming pool sits in a garden atmosphere, and the whole place has a garden courtyard feel to it. Rooms run from about $13 to $30 USD, and most come with a shared bathroom (probably the reason for the reasonable price). An on-site restaurant and spa mean you won’t ever have to leave the hotel….
