Add Australia to Your Round the World Trip
For people in much of the world – Europe, America, Africa – Australia is a long haul. It’s obviously not the kind of place you go for a weekend vacation, and even two to three weeks can be too short to warrant the time and expense it takes to get there. But from Asia, the distance seems a little less daunting, and there’s no better time to explore the Australian continent than on a trip with a longer time frame, like a multi-month round the world trip.
When booking your around the world ticket, it’s easy to add a stop in Sydney. From there you can travel on the ground, or add on domestic flights within the country. Explore Australia’s largest city, and then head out to explore the smaller, but some say more attractive Melbourne. There are so many free things to do in Melbourne, making it great for budget travelers. Cairns is another great stop. The jumping off point for trips to the Great Barrier Reef, there are lots of things to do in Cairns as well – especially if you are into adventure sports like white-water rafting, bungee jumping, skydiving, and snorkeling.
You can explore countless islands, visit the rugged outback, or combine your trip to Australia with some time in New Zealand. Depending on how much you want to see and do, and how far into the country you want to explore, you could spend anywhere from a few weeks to a few months discovering the history, culture, and beauty of Australia.
